Shoes’s soles are hand-cut from car tires. The upper part is made from Kenyan textiles and leather, or eco-leather.
Shoes are made in Mathare slum, Nairobi, Kenya in collaboration with several local cobblers (Tom Okech, George Otieno), together with Alicja Wysocka.

The shoes go together with the book, “Into Africa: Learning, Acting, Sharing” (Le Monde Diplomatique series). You will receive the package in a bag made at the Coopearative Spółdzielnia Ushirika with a silkscreen made by Iddi Bashir, a professional artist from Nairobi.

Profits from sales of these shoes go to the Razem Pamoa Foundation scholarship fund, which allows the most talented students to continue their education in good secondary schools outside the slum. One pair of shoes is equivalent to one month for a student from Mathare slum to continue his/her education at a good secondary school outside of the slum. Walking in these shoes enables children from Mathare Slum to walk to school.
